Today we remember Martin Luther King, Jr. I praise the Lord for the work he did through this man of faith. And I’m amazed at how Martin Luther King, Jr. stood strong through those seasons in life. We all know his work needs to continue and we need to keep praying for our nation and our world. We need to keep praying for God to raise up other leaders like him.
I was reading today from Proverbs chapter 3. I’m confident that MLK’s wisdom and confidence came from some of these verses as well as others in the Bible. Here’s just one of those verses:
27 Do not withhold good from those who deserve it
when it’s in your power to help them.
I think Martin Luther King, Jr. used any power or position he had to help the world become a better place by not withholding good. He stepped out. He tried. He succeeded. He spoke. He empowered people. He inspired. He took risks. And he did so until his death.
Martin Luther King, Jr. put his trust in God and followed God’s path for his life. There’s another rather famous passage in Proverbs 3:
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
6 Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
I’m thankful for the wisdom and strength that God gave to Martin Luther King, Jr. I’m inspired by his leadership and life. My prayer today is that we will keep seeking God’s will for our lives, for our nation, and for our world.
