Three Reasons The Phrase “Always Remember” is Important

Maybe you don’t have this issue, but at times, I forget things.

If my mind is focused on something, I will forget to drop something off as I drive past the library or misplace it around the house or office. I will meet people who greet me warmly, and I can’t recall their names. Someone will ask me about a memory from years ago, and it may be vague for me. I think it’s part of life.

I’ve written about the importance of “remembering” several times:

The Art Of Remembering Names (I also did a podcast I did with my dad on the art of remembering names).

Repetition is Key.

Remember When

This morning, I heard the phrase again as I was reading 2 Timothy 2:

Always remember that Jesus Christ, a descendant of King David, was raised from the dead. This is the Good News I preach. – 2 Timothy 2:8

Here are three reasons why I believe the phrase, “Always remember that Jesus was raised from the dead,” is important:

1) It’s a simple invitation to “remember always.”

Most of Jesus’ invitations and words are simple, and this one is no different. Remembering the good news of Jesus’ sacrifice for us is powerful and can shape our heart, outlook, day, and life.

2) Remembering requires regular active input.

I set reminders on my phone for the schedule, events, daily checklists, prayer points, and much more. In the same way, remembering this truth every day requires active input. Build a discipline of regular Bible reading and prayer. Be around like-minded Christians. Follow Christian leaders on social media. Attend worship each week at your local in-person church. Each of these helps us remember that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead, and it is his power and grace that gives us life.

3) It’s the most important basic tenet of our faith.

Christ came, died for us, and was raised again. This truth brings light to every situation that comes our way. This truth changes the way we live, how we respond, where we live, and how we serve. It’s so critical to our daily living and our hope for the future that we must never forget it. Remember it every day.
