Month of Ministry Update

month of ministry update harvest

To update prayer partners and give God thanks for the great opportunities in the couple of weeks, here’s a wrap up of ministry events:

harvest 15 thayerSANGAMON DISTRICT YOUTH RALLY (9/27)

Harvest met in Thayer, IL to lead a youth rally for the district.  I had never been in Thayer, IL before, but the church folks were hospitable which was evidenced by all the food.  There was a great group of students and leaders in attendance.  The Harvest Team included:  Tim Price, Andy Hite, Sadie Murbarger and Jackson Halquist.  Thanks to the music director Kim for all her help and to Marsha for tech help.  A big thanks to Chuck Kurfman for helping to organize and plan the evening.  Here was the schedule:  5:00 Gathering, fun, giveways and a missionary shared and answered questions; 6:00 pm dinner; 6:30 pm worship and message.  Students responded to Christ during worship and during the message and we’re always grateful to share it.

Harvest was invited to be a part of a great church picnic – with three congregations represented.  Harvest met with children and youth for games from 4-5 pm, then for a worship concert and message from 6-7 pm.  Adults had a concert in another part of the church after dinner. The parking lot was full and it was a great evening of ministry and connections.  The Harvest Team Included: Tim Price, Clint Benesh, Jackson Halquist and Nathan Peel.  Suzanne, Ruby and Macy also came with us to be a part of the fun! Thanks Holly Wood for inviting us and for putting together such a great ministry event.  And special thanks to Caroline who helped with media for the evening.

HIGHLAND HOPE (9/26)

I had the tremendous pleasure of being with the leaders of Highland Hope for a day of visioning and planning.  It was a joy to meet with this group for prayer, learning and discussion.  Every church should gather their leaders for times like these.  We met from 9:00 am – 2:30 pm.  When you pull your people together in a different space, you get a different pace.  I’m praying for this church and their next steps as they continue to “be the church”. Thanks to Pastor Bev for inviting to lead and share.  Thanks to all the leaders for their hard work all day.

harvest 15 jellystone tripFREEMONT, IN (9/20)

Thanks Freemont UMC for inviting us to come lead worship for your fall gathering.  It was a gorgeous day to meet with the church at Jellystone Park, which is rated one of the best in the nation and owned by some of the church members.  This trip was just our family, so Ruby joined in the music playing violin and singing.  Thanks Betty and Derin Hendrey for inviting us and for setting up all the details.  Thanks to Sue and Greg for hosting our family in your home.  Thanks to Roger and all the staff at Jellystone! Here was the simple schedule for the day:  Worship at 10:00 am, followed by lunch and an afternoon of swimming, golf, games and general fellowship with the church!  Ruby and Macy loved the in ground jumpers. Blessings on your congregation.  Thanks for having us.

harvest 15 gorevilleREKINDLE YOUTH RALLY (9/16)

It’s always a joy to be the worship leaders and speaker for the ReKindling Youth Events in Southern Illinois.  These monthly gatherings are sponsored by Eagle House Ministries and hosted in various churches around the region.  Worship began around 7:00 pm with food following.  There were probably 80 people in attendance and it was an energetic group.  The Harvest Team was Tim Price, Brian Donelson and Derek Hyde.  It was a joy to lead music and preach the gospel that night. Thanks to Goreville UMC for hosting this event, to Pastor Ed for setting up all the details and helping the evening go smoothly.  Thanks to Suzanne Price for helping with sound and media.

harvest 15 - waukeshaSALEM UMC, WAUKESHA, WI (9/12-13)

What a fun time connecting with the congregation at Salem UMC in Waukesha, WI over the weekend.  The church organized a one time Saturday evening worship outdoors which includes games, activities and fun, followed by worship and dinner.  This event was also a family trip, so Ruby and I did music for the Saturday night service as well as the Sunday morning worship service.  Thanks to Amy, Pastor Jorge and the entire congregation for your hospitality.  Keep being a light in the community.  Hope to see you again soon.

PRICE FARM JAMBOREE (9/13)

The Price Farm Jamboree took place on Sunday night, September 13, celebrating the 15th year.  This outdoor concert is held on under the pecan tree grove on the Price Family Farm in Rockbridge, IL.  Beginning at 7 pm and concluding about 9:00 pm, the approximately 250 people in attendance hear music from the Price Family.  It was a blast…  musicians included:  Dennis Price, Iris Price, Lennie Jahn, Tim Price, Jackson Price, Jessica Price, Ruby Price, Emma Price, Macy Price, Caleb Price and Molly Price. Others in the family who helped make it happen included Suzanne Price, Greg Price, Debbie Price, Miles Price, Joe Royer, Debbie Royer, Andy Goodman, Roger and Brenda, Cody, Tracy Bodenbach, Granny… and the list goes on.  Probably the most amazing thing to me is that it never rains, at least for the last 15 years, on the first Sunday evening after Labor Day in Rockbridge, IL.  Jamboree Facebook Page

LAWRENCEVILLE, IL BLOCK PARTY (8/30)

Here’s a great schedule for a downtown church, like First UMC in Lawrenceville:  4:00 pm popcorn, snow cones, inflatable games, etc., 5:00 pm music and fun from the stage, 6:00 pm food and 7:00 pm worship. When all this is down outdoors on the parking lot, it’s a witness to the whole community.  Thanks Pastor Gary for helping lead the way in ministry. Thanks to Kim Przybylski for doing double duty and setting up the event as well as play with Harvest.  It was a great evening of music and ministry.

I give God praise for the many words said, songs sung and miles traveled in the last few days!  I’m always grateful that His never returns void and I can’t wait to see the fruit that comes from these events and ministries.  I’m grateful for those who support Harvest with prayer and money.  I’m grateful for the van and trailer we can use as a tool in the name of Jesus.  I’m grateful for the invitations to serve and to those who put in the hard work to gather people together in the name of Jesus.  A special thanks to Troy UMC being a home base for ministry through the year.  It’s such an awesome connection to serve in both the general church and my home church.

If your church is planning a ministry event, contact us!  We’d love to be a part of it!
