Lunch

A young man noticed an elderly couple sitting down to lunch at McDonald’s.

He observed that they had ordered one meal and an extra drink cup.

As he watched, the gentleman carefully divided the hamburger in half, then counted out the fries—one for him, one for her—until each had an equal share.

He then poured half of the soft drink into the extra cup and placed it in front of his wife.

The old man began eating, while his wife sat quietly, her hands folded in her lap.

Feeling concerned, the young man approached them and offered to buy another meal so they wouldn’t have to share.

The old gentleman smiled and said, “Oh no, thank you. We’ve been married 50 years, and we’ve always shared everything 50/50.”

The young man then turned to the wife and asked if she was going to eat. She smiled and replied,

“It’s his turn with the teeth.”
