Ignition 2011 – Troy, IL

Harvest doesn’t travel together to get to Ignition in Troy, but we come from
many parts of the region to put the team together.  This past weekend, we all assembled in Troy, IL for the Ignition Middle School Conference and it was powerful!

The two day discipleship event for middle school students included worship, teaching, seminars, small group, recreation, meals, connections and lots of fun.  During the  final worship session, the speaker invited kids who wanted to say, “here I am  Lord, send me” to stand up and shout, “SEND ME”.  Then he invited them to come to the front to pray for them…  out of the approximately 200 people in attendance, a large percentage stood.   I praise the Lord for the impact that is made when we do something as simple as gather kids together and share God’s word.

It takes a large team of people, for whom I am extremely grateful, to make something like Ignition happen!  Christine Fuesz, Harvest Events Coordinator, was instrumental in getting most all the details set up for the conference.  We couldn’t do it with
her.  The college students on the Harvest Team were Max Luetkemeier, Kim Przybylski, Bonnie Pocklington, Chase Weber, Joe Kraudel, Tyler Lynn, and Preston Elbert. Curtis Gilbert was the speaker, Bobby Davis served as the MC, and Matt Story set up all the sound and staging.  Brian Carginer also helped with sound.  Collin Kosskoski did the lighting. Justin Aymer recorded the group this weekend.  Katie Murbarger helped take pictures during he event. Millie Fuesz helped with the resource table. Tim Vincent built a few of the games we used. Amanda Neihaus, Kim McGrath, and Suzanne Price were all
involved with the planning and set up for different aspects of the weekend –
Ignition Blast, Tootsie Roll Festival, etc.  Deb Ellis provided the leadership supper on Friday night.  Corey Johnston created the weekend logo and t-shirt.  And 35 people from Troy UMC were involved in other volunteer roles during the weekend.  A huge thanks to Troy United MethodistChurch!

I’m grateful for the youth ministry leaders who are serving in churches and willing to go through the day in and day out discipleship of the students!  Thanks for bringing them to
Ignition.

We have some pictures from the weekend on the Harvest Facebook.
