How to add value w/out spending a dime…

value-620-320I once read a paragraph from a book that talked about adding value without spending any money.  It was an intriguing concept that has always stuck with me.

As a husband, I don’t always have to spend money to say, “I love you”.  Gifts and special treats are part of the balance, but there are many things I can do to add value to my wife without spending any money. Examples of this might be asking questions, paying attention, sharing more than my share of household duties, smiling, saying kind and uplifting words, enjoying what she enjoys, and many more. There are also those simple things like picnics, walks, and movie nights at home.

As a parent, the times that I just smile, invest time, love life and enjoy my kids are probably some of the best things I can do to add value to their lives.  Taking time to give them direction, teaching them crucial things of faith and the spiritual life are also important and life changing.

As an employee, if I invest time to the fullest, utilize my gifts, and create great stuff for the organization without spending tons of extra money (they are already investing money in my position just though the salary) then I am adding value to them and their mission.

You can add value as a neighbor, as a family member, as a church leader, as a coach, as a leader, as a manager and you don’t have to spend any money to do it!  What a bargain.

How can your church add value to people’s lives?  How can your ministry make a difference in people’s lives?  And in what ways can you do this without spending in money – it’s a fun brainstorming session that might really be motivating for your ministry staff or leaders.

What are some other ways that you can add value to people’s lives – for free?  This question always gets me thinking creatively. Find ways today!
