“Most of us plateau when we lose the tension between where we are and where we ought to be.” — John Gardiner
The tension between where we are and where we ought to be helps us grow, improve, build stronger relationships, and stick with our goals in life. When we lose the tension, we decline.

How do we keep the tension in balance and allow it to motivate us? By assessing our goals and values.
How Goals Help
Our goals can:
- Remind us of what is important.
- Keep us focused on the future.
- Increase hope in our lives
Goals help provide the sense that there is more to do in life. We keep at it; we keep trying; we keep moving ahead. And those actions give us a sense of accomplishment. They move us from where we are to where we want to be.
These thoughts struck me as I’ve been reading, Your Divine Fingerprint: The Force That Makes You Unstoppable by Keith Craft.
