DO YOU KNOW THE FIRST RULE OF DOING WORK THAT CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

When you’re doing work that matters and you want your work to matter and make a difference, you need to abide by this very important rule.

Set your schedule before you start.

When the schedule is set and you know the goal, you won’t be tempted to stop here and there for side things. You won’t stop intermittently to check social media, email or other distractions. You won’t set the main priority to the side for other things that pop up.

Your work, your project, your goal matters – for you and for others. Don’t allow it to fall into the pit of a dream that didn’t ever take root.

One of the biggest things that can derail us is fear.

We fear starting because we don’t know if we will succeed.

Some people allow fear to keep them from starting.

Other people allow fear to keep them from finishing.

If you want your work to make a difference, pay attention to this rule – don’t get sidetracked. Show up day after day. And keep a focus on the main goal.

I was inspired reading Seth Godin’s book “Poke The Box.” Thanks Jennifer for dropping the book by my office.
