PRODUCE LASTING LIFE CHANGE WITH THESE FOUR SIMPLE TRUTHS

Several years back, I attended a worship leaders conference and one of speakers, Steve Reynolds, had written a book called, Get Off the Couch: 6 Motivators to Help You Lose Weight and Start Living: A Man’s A.C.T.I.O.N. Plan. I skimmed the book in 2012 and am now re-reading it.

After a year and a half of upended discipline and routines caused by the pandemic, it’s time for me to get back to a goal of making changes.

Here are four truths about producing a change in a person’s life that I learned from this author. These apply to health and other areas.

Change is Supernatural

True change comes from a change in your heart. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. If we truly want change, we must seek the Lord, pray for strength, and understand the greater purpose behind the change.

Change Is Mental

Change begins in the mind with what you think. Negative thinking will cause you to drift toward a negative life. Thinking about positive change in your life will cause you to literally and physically drift toward more positive outcomes. Get around people and situations that propel you to better living and great decisions. Stay grounded in Scripture because God’s word has the power to change our minds and hearts.

Change Is Helpful

Change can bring momentum and new things. Change can help replace old, outdated things in our lives with more important things. Change can affect our decisions and those determine our destiny. Where you are today is a result of the decisions you made in previous years. The seeds you plant become the harvest. Changes will bring about the pruning needed to produce a fruitful life.

Change Is Possible

Maybe this should be first – You must believe change is possible. With God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). If God is for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31). God doesn’t want us to waste our lives, but to invest them, as stewards, doing all we can with the entrusted message of the gospel. Whatever needs to change in your life – it can be done. It’s possible! Remember – You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength (Philippians. 4:!3).
